Tourist Guide Profile - Rieko Miyagawa |

|
Welcome. My name is Rieko Miyagawa.
After working in the Sales & Banqueting team at the hotel in Tokyo, I came to London in 1991 to brush up on my English and I studied Travel & Tourism.
I worked in various positions and expanded my knowledge in the Travel industry until 2006. I worked for Thomas Cook at their flagship office in Mayfair, London for 6 years, arranging package holidays for Japanese clients from Japan and also high-calibre Japanese expatriates based in the UK. After searching for a new challenge, I worked at ANA World Tours (now ANA Sales Europe) as a supervisor planning, arranging and escorting package holidays and tours for Japanese clients in the UK. I returned to Thomas Cook and managed a team of Japanese staff who specialised in providing assistance to corporate clients, making travel arrangements and also dealing with emergency situations for distressed travellers while overseas, my main responsibilities included monitoring and ensuring quality service standards for the team. I love travelling and meeting people and I have travelled extensively both within the UK and through Europe.
I decided to pursue my career as a Tourist Guide. After much hard work, I qualified as a Blue Badge Tourist Guide in 2007 for the Heart of England region. Heart of England consists of the beautiful countryside of England including the Cotswolds, Gloucestershire, Herefordshire, Oxfordshire, Shropshire, Stratford Upon Avon (Shakespeare Country), Staffordshire, Warwickshire, West Midlands (Birmingham, Coventry and surrounding area) and Worcestershire.
With my 19 years experience in the travel industry, I hope to help you make the most of the beautiful English countryside by taking a tour with me. My motto is “Ichigo Ichie”, this is the spirit of the Japanese Tea Ceremony and roughly translates into English as ‘one lifetime, one meeting’ expressing the idea that each meeting between host and guests is a unique occasion, never to recur in exactly the same way.
I very much look forward to meeting you all.
